About the Artist

My mother and Nana were both sewists. At an early age I used needle and thread to make doll clothes then graduated to making my own clothes as a teenager.  My first quilt was pieced together from scraps of fabric that my mother saved from the time I was a baby to my marriage.  That quilt brings back many memories of sewing with my mother and Nana.

It was not until I moved to Manhattan, Kansas in 2001 that I pursued quilting as a passion. In the 20+ years since, I have crafted more than 200 quilts ranging from abstract wall hangings to traditional king size bed quilts. I enjoy the entire process of quilting from design to construction, to finishing, but the thing I love most about quilting is thinking of the person I am working for as I quilt.

Family and community continue to be the core of my inspiration and creativity. In 2016, my husband and I moved to Andover, Kansas after retiring from higher education. We picked Andover to be close to our son and his wife and in 2020 we were blessed with our grandson.

Not one to sit idle, I purchased my Handi Quilter longarm machine and became serious about quilting for hire. My company, White Crane Designs, is a full-service business.

Communication is the cornerstone of my business. I will do whatever it takes to assure your complete satisfaction in the process and the product. If you’re not a quilter, let me make the quilt for you.  If you like to piece quilt tops but never seem to finish them into a quilt, I’d be happy to pick up where you left off.
